Taking Stock of God’s Provisions
Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. 2 Corinthians 9:10-11
Dear People of St. Stephen’s:
In this season of our life together, we remember what it means to be the church and how it is that our giving of Time, Talent, and Treasure tends to our life together. It is a pleasure to write to you because you understand deeply what it means to be the church together. Your commitment demonstrates that understanding.
The vestry and I have spent a great deal of time throughout this year considering what a “God-glorifying future” of St. Stephen’s can look like. Through carefully remembering what has been demonstrated through St. Stephen’s in years past and imagining how God might use us in response to the present and future needs of our community, we have begun to think strategically about our immediate and long-term future. Most of our thoughts center around increasing mission ministries through effort and funding, developing spiritual resources that enticingly attend to youth and adults, and
addressing property matters so that they don’t inhibit our ministries and mission.
Remember that our scriptures tell us that we can trust God with our lives, both individually and collectively. As we practice trusting God with our lives, we resource God to do amazing things with us. Through us, God can attend to the needs of the world. We look forward to having you join us in these faithful efforts in 2015.
Faithfully, The Rev. Whitney Altopp
