A Welcome from Our Music Ministry

Music for praise and prayer is a central part of our life of worship and fellowship. Music challenges us to learn new ways to celebrate our life together and to offer praise for the many blessings we enjoy.  Music stimulates learning and respect among us. Music brings us God's word in a universal language.

Music also plays a crucial role in reaching to our community. We offer a series of Sunday afternoon concerts that are open to all, with a wide ranging program of music that is sometimes challenging, sometimes fun, and always engaging and entertaining.

We welcome all to participate in our music. Come and listen, either at our worship services or our public concerts. Come and sing with us, in worship and in praise. And for those so inclined, please come and help us make music with one of the several  we sponsor. Welcome!

Church Music Program

Adult Choir

The adult choir provides leadership for music in worship, primarily at our 10:00 AM services on Sunday. During the school year (September to May) they prepare one or several anthems weekly, and support hymns, psalms and service music during worship.

Chamber Singers

Drawn from the members of the Adult Choir, the Chamber Singers are a smaller group focused on a more complex and challenging repertoire. They perform one or several times a year as part of the Sunday Concert Series.

Youth Choir

Covering grades grades 3 through 6, the Youth Choir sings to share joy and stories of our faith, performing on selected Sundays through the year. They work on building musical skills, and often sing in two parts - and sometimes more!

Children's Choir

For Kindergarten through 2nd grade, the Children's Choir seeks to nurture a love of music and the joy of singing in practice and in worship. They rehearse weekly on Thursdays during the school year. We welcome any child with an interest in singing and making a joyful noise unto the Lord.

Cherub Choir

For children ages 3 through 5, this choir of beginning singers learns music through their Sunday morning service and church school, and shares what they have learned with the whole congregation several times a year.

Church School

To broaden the exposure of all of the children in our church to music, the entire Church School has been learning pieces that they have shared with us several times in recent years; this provides a way for all of the children of the church to begin to learn to praise God through music.

Contemporary Music Ensemble

Developing and performing music for the Contemporary Services now held at 5:00 PM on Sundays in North Hall, this group seeks new sources of music with a strong improvisational and expressive flavor.

Soloists and Instrumentalists

We love to draw on the many skills and talents among our congregation to further our worship of God. It is a chance for the singers and players in our midst to share their gifts and enhance our worship. We welcome anyone with a musical gift who is interested in supporting our worship.

Concert Series 2006 - 2007

Plans for this year's series are on hold... please check back in November.

Our Pipe Organ

Our primary instrument for worship music is a 1965 Moeller pipe organ with 30 ranks and almost 3000 pipes. The main (chancel) organ is augmented with a gallery organ section at the rear of the church. The organ console was refurbished  in 2002 with new electrical controls. A major renovation was completed in the summer of 2004. All the major music-making components (pipes, bellows and valves) were refurbished. This work augments the painting and other refurbishment of the church interior and exterior competed this summer of 2004.
