Acolytes
The word “acolyte” comes from the Greek word “akolouthos” which means a servant or attendant who waits on another. The Acolyte assists priests and deacons so that worshippers may celebrate the Holy Eucharist and other Church rites with simple dignity. As a result, the Acolytes are an important part of the worship service. They bring forward the flame to light the altar candles prior to the service and carry the lit flame out at the end of the service, reminding us that Jesus calls us to take his good news with us when we go out into the world.
We have over thirty young people ranging in ages from 1-18 serving as St. Stephen's acolytes. We always welcome new members to our team.
