Holy Eucharist
Every Sunday our church gathers around the table in obedience to Jesus’ instruction. The word Eucharist is borrowed from Greek and means thanksgiving. In our thanksgiving we hear and respond to the Word of God in scripture, sermon and prayer. We then share the bread and wine that Jesus shared with his disciples on the night before he died.
All who feel a need for God are welcome to join us at the altar. Those who have never been baptized can receive a blessing from one of the clergy by simply folding your arms across your chest. All the baptized (including children) are urged to receive the consecrated bread and wine. Standing or kneeling to receive communion are equally reverent and those who need to have the sacrament brought to them simply need to indicate this to an usher.
